FBCMUD 23 – Trail Dedication for Director Hughes

The Board of Directors for Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District No. 23 (FBCMUD 23) held a trail dedication ceremony for Director Ellen Hughes on June 11, 2022.

Ellen, and her husband Ruston, moved to Teal Run in 1993 and she has served on the Board of Directors since February 1996. What was a small MUD at the time has grown to encompass the additional neighborhoods of Andover Farms, Cambridge Falls, Estates of Teal Run, Teal Run North, and Winfield Lakes with over 4600 equivalent residential connections. For 26 years Ellen has served the community with passion and a desire to see the community grow and plant the “seeds” for the amenities residents enjoy today.

Amongst the many amenity projects she has been a part of during her tenure, the trails and greenspaces throughout the District are of great importance to her, and thus it is fitting the rest of the Directors who serve alongside her dedicated one of those trails to her in a surprise ceremony with members of the community, friends, and family in attendance. The surprise was so complete, in fact, Ellen was assuming she was just taking a morning stroll and was dressed for exercise, not a public appearance! The trail dedicated in her honor is the first trail MUD 23 designed and built back in 2005. It is the trail bordered by Hunter Green Lane and Eaglewood Trail Drive.

The gathered audience for the presentation included members of the Board of Directors and consultants for the District, neighbors, friends and family, and Fort Bend County Commissioner Grady Prestage. Many heartfelt words of thanks and gratitude were shared by those in attendance, especially from FBCMUD 23 Board President, William Thomas. A plaque dedicating the trail to Ellen will be mounted at the trailhead near the entrance to the detention area and the trail walkways.

Again, we congratulate Ellen on her accomplishments as part of the FBCMUD 23 Board of Directors, and thank her for years of service to the community she resides in.
